Training Environment

We provide a safe, clean, and focused training environment where members and visitors can enjoy Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu seriously while maintaining a friendly atmosphere.
Safety is always our top priority. Our classes are structured so that beginners and experienced practitioners can train together comfortably, and visiting practitioners are welcomed not as “guests,” but as training partners.

All classes at our dojo are conducted entirely in Japanese. Please note that our instructors are not native English speakers.
That said, we are accustomed to welcoming international visitors. Simple English, gestures, and demonstrations are used when necessary, and we do our best to ensure that non-Japanese speakers can follow the class and enjoy training.

Message:
I started Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu when I was 50 years old. At the gym I attended at the time, a Jiu-Jitsu class was added once a week, and that was how I first encountered the art.
I became deeply fascinated with Jiu-Jitsu and, at the age of 55, transferred to Carpe Diem Jiyugaoka to begin training seriously. After five years of consistent effort, I earned my black belt.
Because I started later in life, I have always trained with careful thought and intention. In my teaching, I focus on helping beginners—including those with little athletic experience—improve steadily and safely, without injury.
Let’s enjoy Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu together.

Koji ImanariKoji Imanari is a black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu with over 20 years of experience. He began training in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in 2003. The following year, at the age of 31, he traveled alone to Brazil, where he immersed himself in intense training alongside high-level competitors. After returning to Japan, he has worked for many years as both a competitor and an instructor in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and grappling. He is known for providing clear, logical explanations, practical advice, and up-to-date techniques—not only for beginners, but also for advanced practitioners and professional athletes.

Message:
Nice to meet you. My name is Koji Imanari, and I’m an instructor here.
I started Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu at the age of 30, without any prior martial arts experience. I don’t have a competition record that I would boast about, but I was fortunate enough to earn my black belt.
Of course, starting early is great—but starting later is absolutely not a problem.
Through Jiu-Jitsu, I’ve met countless people and witnessed many unforgettable moments. If I hadn’t started training 20 years ago, I honestly can’t imagine where my life would be today.
I hope to help make your life richer through Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in whatever way I can.

Message:
I began training in martial arts at the age of six at a combat sports gym run by my father. From a young age, I experienced wrestling, judo, and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, which shaped my approach to martial arts.
Today, I focus on creating an environment where everyone - from complete beginners to those aiming to become competitors - can enjoy learning Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
The more you train, the deeper and more fascinating Jiu-Jitsu becomes. It’s an art that truly pulls you in. I hope you’ll experience that excitement for yourself.
If you feel that you’re "not athletic" or think martial arts might be intimidating, please don’t worry - just come and try it.
You may discover a new passion or goal.
